The Malaysian Education Ministry has extended the deadlines for submitting assessment marks in response to disruptions caused by haze affecting several parts of the country. In a statement issued yesterday, the ministry announced that the deadline for entering marks for the End-of-Academic-Session Assessment and End-of-Academic-Session Examinations has been extended by one week, moving from November 21 to November 28.
Additionally, the deadline for the Physical, Sports and Co-curricular Assessment marks has been pushed back from November 30 to December 5. The ministry indicated that the extension aims to provide students, teachers, parents, and guardians more time to complete the marking process within the ministry’s Integrated Education Management System (MOEIS).
Despite the ongoing haze, schools and educational institutions under the Education Ministry in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor are operating as usual today. However, all outdoor activities have been suspended as a precautionary measure to safeguard the health of students and staff.
The Kuala Lumpur Education Department and the Selangor State Education Department jointly issued guidelines recommending that students and school personnel wear face masks while on school premises. Parents and guardians concerned about their children's health amid the haze are allowed to keep them home, provided they notify the school of the absence.
The education authorities emphasized their commitment to prioritizing the safety, health, and well-being of students and education personnel throughout this period. They also urged all parties to remain vigilant, stay informed about the latest haze developments, and follow advice issued by relevant health and environmental agencies.
