The 20th Qatar Scientific Excellence Award will open its online application process from October 1 to 31, the award’s Electronic System Committee announced. Winners are expected to be revealed on February 1, 2027, with the award ceremony planned for April 18, 2027.
Officials outlined the application timeline and procedures during a recent meeting introducing the updated electronic system. The session covered registration steps, methods to access the platform, and outlined eligible categories, including new classifications introduced for this edition. Candidates are encouraged to submit applications early in the month to allow time for technical support and to resolve any issues prior to the deadline.
Mohammed Suleiman, vice-chairman of the Electronic System Committee, explained that guidance documents, nomination forms, and specific details regarding conditions and procedures for each category are available on the award’s website. Applications must be submitted exclusively through the electronic system, while downloadable PDF files serve as reference materials only.
A dedicated technical support team will be available to address inquiries and system problems, aiming to resolve issues within 48 hours. Educators from public and private schools can use their existing Ministry of Education credentials, while private-school applicants without Ministry system access can register for a new account.
Suleiman noted that the system automatically identifies applicants’ personal details and directs school-based candidates according to their grade level or education stage. Applicants outside the school system may select from Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD categories.
For the first time, the Master’s and PhD categories have been divided into three classifications: Science, Engineering and Information Technology; Humanities and Social Sciences; and Medical, Biomedical and Health Sciences. The revisions are intended to help applicants accurately match their specializations and minimize errors during submission.
Applicants have the flexibility to complete their forms in stages, with options to save progress and return before final submission. Users can also edit details, cancel unsubmitted applications, or start new ones within the application window.
The committee emphasized the importance of using the “Save and Continue” function after completing each section. The system will flag mandatory fields and prevent submission unless all required information and supporting documents are provided.
