Britain is set to experience its third heatwave of the summer this week, with temperatures expected to reach up to 34°C (93.2°F). Weather conditions will gradually warm starting today, culminating in the highest temperatures by Thursday or Friday. The southern regions of the country are anticipated to be the most affected by the rise in heat, while yellow weather warnings have been issued for parts of the Midlands and East Anglia due to potential health risks.

Despite the upcoming warmth, meteorologists suggest that this heatwave is unlikely to match the intensity of the previous spell at the end of June. During that period, several records were broken, including the highest temperature recorded in June at 37.7°C (99.86°F) in Lingwood, Norfolk, on June 26.

Dr. Emily Carlisle, a scientist with the Met Office, noted that the elevated temperatures experienced in June fit within a broader trend of increased warmth throughout 2026. Authorities and health services have cautioned the public to stay hydrated and take appropriate measures during the hot weather episodes, particularly in vulnerable areas where the alerts have been issued.
