Chicago White Sox pitcher Sean Burke delivered a strong performance on Thursday, continuing his dominant form throughout July. Despite allowing the first two batters to reach base—one via catcher’s interference and the other on a walk—Burke quickly regained control. He struck out the next two hitters and induced a groundout to close the inning, setting the tone for his outing.

Burke went on to pitch six scoreless innings, striking out 10 batters while giving up only three hits and two walks. He threw 91 pitches in total, effectively using both his fastball and cutter to keep hitters off balance.

White Sox pitching coach Ethan Venable praised Burke’s command and confidence. “The fastball is working for him. He’s getting swing-and-miss with it, which opens up everything else,” Venable said. He added that Burke’s cutter was also particularly effective, resulting in what he described as “really good stuff” from the right-hander.

The performance capped off an outstanding month for Burke, who posted a 1.14 ERA over five starts in July. During that span, he struck out 45 batters across 31 2/3 innings, underscoring his rising dominance on the mound.

Burke attributed his success to a combination of solid game plans and increased confidence in his pitching repertoire. “I just feel good with all my stuff right now,” he said. “Talking with the catchers and coaches has made my life a little bit easier. When you have confidence in all your pitches, it’s easier to game plan and find more ways to get guys out.”

With his current form, Burke appears poised to remain a key contributor to the White Sox pitching rotation as the season progresses.
