Sean Dyche has urged Nottingham Forest players to take responsibility and support manager Oliver Glasner amid ongoing struggles at the club. Forest, who have managed just six goals under Glasner’s leadership, remain second from bottom in the Premier League after a 2-0 defeat at Brentford on Saturday.
Dyche, who served as Forest’s manager last season before being dismissed in February after 25 games, drew parallels between the current challenges and those he faced. Writing on social media, he highlighted his own difficulties with goal-scoring problems, recalling a goalless draw against Wolves that preceded his departure. “Forest are still finding goals hard to come by and I had it with my staff,” Dyche said. “I hope Oliver is given more time, the fans stay with him and the players stand up and be counted.”
Glasner’s recent comments criticizing his players reflected similar frustrations Dyche expressed earlier in the season. After an FA Cup exit in January, Dyche publicly called out his squad, a move that drew criticism from some supporters at the time. “I called out the group after the Wrexham game and fans said I was out of order for doing so. Go figure! Oliver is saying what I was, in his own style,” Dyche added.
Nottingham Forest’s struggles have sparked discussions about the future of Glasner, who took over the managerial role this season with hopes of steadying a team battling relegation. Despite the lack of goals and poor results, Dyche’s message underscores the importance of collective responsibility from the players and patience from the club and supporters.
