French authorities continue their search for two crew members following the sinking of a fishing vessel in the English Channel on Saturday. The vessel, named The Maranello, reported an issue with its fishing gear before it went down.

The alert came after The Maranello contacted another trawler, The Stradale, seeking assistance. The crew of The Stradale was able to rescue three out of the five sailors aboard The Maranello prior to the vessel sinking.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency confirmed that one of the rescued individuals was airlifted to Truro Hospital for treatment, while the others received medical care after being taken to Plymouth. The search efforts for the remaining two crew members are ongoing.
