The Economic and Commercial Office of Spain in Doha, in partnership with ICEX Spain Trade & Investment, is set to launch the second edition of the Spanish gastronomy campaign “Eat Spain, Drink Spain” in Qatar from September 20 to October 4, 2026. The event aims to build on the success of its inaugural edition by further introducing Spanish culinary traditions to Qatar’s diverse food scene.
Spanish Ambassador to Qatar HE Alvaro Renedo Zalbo highlighted the cultural significance of Spanish cuisine during the opening ceremony, emphasizing its blend of historical tradition and modern innovation. He described the cuisine as a key aspect of Spain’s international identity and expressed enthusiasm for using the campaign to strengthen cultural ties between Spain and Qatar.
This year’s campaign features a broader array of participating venues, including hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, and specialty food retailers across Doha. Patrons will have the opportunity to sample well-known Spanish dishes such as paella, tortilla española, gambas al ajillo, and croquetas. Popular Spanish products like Manchego cheese and Padrón peppers will also be showcased.
Throughout the two-week event, a variety of activities will be available, including tastings, cooking demonstrations, and culinary events designed to engage both residents and food industry professionals. These initiatives aim to educate participants on Spain’s rich gastronomic heritage, offering perspectives on traditional recipes alongside modern and fusion preparations.
The campaign will unite a diverse group of local partners, making Spanish cuisine more accessible than ever. Notable restaurants involved include Curiosa, Stoke & Stoker, The Cellar, Coya, Amaru, Muru, Secret Garden, La Pergola, and IKA. On the retail side, Spanish products will be featured with special promotions at outlets such as The Meat Market, Monoprix, Carrefour, and Lulu Hypermarket.
Additional collaboration comes from Spanish brands Delaviuda and El Almendro, local delivery platform Snoonu, and The Cooking Academy, which will host a cooking contest as part of the festivities.
“Eat Spain, Drink Spain” in Doha forms part of the global Spain Food Nation initiative, conducted by Foods from Spain and Alimentos de España through the Spanish Embassy’s Economic and Commercial Office. The 2026 campaign is taking place concurrently in 18 countries across Europe, Asia, Oceania, the Middle East, and North America, positioning Qatar as a key location in Spain’s international culinary outreach.
