The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth of Oman will host the second Omani Chanting Festival in October 2026 in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. The event is part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to foster the development of chanting as a cultural art form and to provide a platform for emerging talents to enhance their skills and contribute to Oman’s cultural landscape.
Sayyid Said bin Sultan al Busaidy, Under-Secretary of the Ministry for Culture, emphasized the significance of chanting in reflecting national and human values, as well as strengthening Omani cultural identity. He noted that the festival aligns with the Ministry’s commitment to promoting cultural arts and encouraging young Omanis to display their artistic potential.
The festival also supports key objectives outlined in Oman Vision 2040, which prioritizes the preservation and celebration of the nation’s cultural heritage. Focusing on young men and women aged 18 to 39, the competition invites participants to submit a single chanting piece lasting between four and seven minutes. The themes of the entries may center on spiritual, national, or moral topics.
Submissions are being accepted through the Ministry’s official website until August 29, allowing ample time for interested candidates to apply. The event aims to not only showcase individual talents but also to reinforce a shared cultural identity through the traditional art of chanting.
