The second Qatar-Korea Artificial Intelligence Forum began on Monday in Doha, bringing together government officials and experts from both countries to explore the future of artificial intelligence and enhance bilateral collaboration in digital technologies. Under the theme “New Horizons and Business Opportunities,” the two-day forum serves as a platform to advance cooperation beyond dialogue, focusing on practical initiatives that aim to drive tangible results in AI development. In her opening remarks, Reem Mohammed al-Mansoori, Assistant Undersecretary for Digital Industry Affairs at MCIT, highlighted Qatar’s commitment to embedding AI at the core of its digital transformation as part of the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Digital Agenda 2030. She pointed to Qatar’s achievements in digital infrastructure, citing its top global ranking for secure infrastructure in the 2025 Innovation Index and a second-place position worldwide in mobile internet speed.

Complementing her remarks, Sami Mohammed al-Shammari, Assistant Undersecretary for Infrastructure and Operations Affairs at MCIT, outlined the foundational role of digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, and digital sovereignty in Qatar’s evolving digital transformation efforts. He noted that the country is entering a new phase focused on transforming national strategies into measurable outcomes, with a particular emphasis on integrating AI into public sector operations.

He emphasized that successful AI adoption relies not only on technological innovation but also on institutional readiness, trust, and robust governance frameworks.

The forum also underscored the strategic partnership between Qatar and South Korea, which combines Korean expertise in semiconductors, digital platforms, and cybersecurity with Qatar’s investment in digital infrastructure and visionary planning. Collaborative efforts are targeted at key sectors including AI infrastructure, smart government services, cloud computing, and smart mobility solutions, reflecting a comprehensive approach to advancing digital transformation through international cooperation.
