This prompt action prevented a potential threat shortly after a deadly shooting at the same site, with authorities now investigating and confirming no ongoing danger.

A potential security threat at the Islamic Center of San Diego was averted Thursday when a vigilant security guard noticed a suspicious vehicle repeatedly circling the mosque. This incident occurred less than a month after a deadly shooting at the same location that claimed three lives.

According to mosque officials, the security guard promptly informed local law enforcement upon spotting the car. Police officers already stationed at the mosque responded quickly, coordinating with nearby units to locate and stop the vehicle a short distance away.

San Diego Police Department reported detaining the driver and discovering a Nazi flag along with a suspicious canister inside the car. As a precautionary measure, the Metro Arson Strike Team was called in to assess the potential threat. Nearby businesses and residences were evacuated temporarily while investigators conducted their evaluation.

Imam Taha Hassane expressed gratitude for the swift response, emphasizing the importance of the on-site security presence and immediate law enforcement action.
