KUANTAN — Comm Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin, director of the Bukit Aman Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department, was the leading honoree among 58 recipients of the Pahang state awards in conjunction with the 67th birthday of the Sultan of Pahang. The investiture ceremony took place yesterday at Balai Mahkota, Istana Abdulaziz, here.
The event was officiated by Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and attended by Tengku Ampuan of Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, Tengku Mahkota Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, Pahang Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, and other state officials.
Comm Noor Hisam, who previously served as deputy police chief of Pahang, was awarded the Sri Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang (SSAP), conferring the title Datuk Seri. The SSAP was also presented to six other distinguished individuals, including Professor Datuk Suhaini Kadiman, the National Heart Institute’s chief research and innovation officer and senior consultant anaesthesiologist, and Datuk Shamsul Ahmad, president and CEO of Tenaga Nasional Bhd. Other recipients of the SSAP included Datuk Ng Chooi Guan of Engtex Group Bhd, Datuk Ling Kah Chok of Far East (Melaka) Sdn Bhd, Professor Dr Kevin Low Lock Teng of Low Capital Sdn Bhd, and SS Sathaseelan of Palz Group of Companies.
The Darjah Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang (DSAP), which carries the title Datuk, was awarded to 11 recipients. Among them were former national badminton player and coach Sairul Amar Ayob and Datuk Anita Mohamed Shafie, director-general of the Water Supply Department. Recipients also included Kamal Azira Hassan from the Finance Ministry’s legal division, Brigadier General Datuk Sani S. Omar, commander of the Third Infantry Division, and Ayub Zaidin, deputy accountant-general (operations) at the Accountant General’s Department.
A total of 32 individuals received the Darjah Indera Mahkota Pahang (DIMP), also conferring the Datuk title. Notable among these were Tengku Suleiman Tengku Abdul Rahman, field supervisor of the Pahang Royal Polo Club, Tengku Akashah Tengku Hussain, and Datin Samsiah Arshad, chairwoman of the Pahang Women’s Development Council for Rompin district. Other DIMP recipients included Mohd Shukor Mahmud, director of the Pahang Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission; First Admiral (Maritime) Mazlan Mat Rejab, director of the Pahang Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency; and Senior Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Radzi Hussain, commander of the General Operations Force southeast brigade.
Additional DIMP awardees featured senior private secretaries to federal ministers, political secretary to the Pahang Mentri Besar Mohd Farid Mohd Nor, and Chief Imam Mohd Rizzal Mohd Ali Nafiah of the Sultan Ahmad 1 state mosque in Kuantan. Former national footballer See Kim Seng, sports commentator Abu Bakar Atan, and singer Wan Aminuddin Wan Ismail, known as Ameng Spring, were also honored.
The Sultan also presented the Setia Mahkota Pahang to five individuals, including Rompin OCPD Superintendent Sharif Shai Sharif Mondoi. One recipient received the Ahli Ahmad Shah Pahang, while two others were awarded the Ahli Mahkota Pahang.
