KUALA LUMPUR — Seven Indonesian nationals believed to be operating illegally as beauty therapists were detained during raids on multiple locations in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, authorities said.

The Immigration Department identified the group as one man and six women, ranging in age from 19 to 44. The arrests followed coordinated enforcement actions targeting premises offering unauthorized beauty and aesthetic services. The operation covered four sites, including areas in Jalan Uranus, Shah Alam, Pandan Perdana, and two locations in Kepong.

Officials recovered various items during the raids, including medicines, specialized equipment related to beauty and aesthetic treatments, a mobile phone, and approximately RM400 in cash, which is suspected to be proceeds from the unlicensed activities.

According to the department, the group provided beauty services to both Malaysian and foreign clients, with a notable client base among Indonesians residing in the Klang Valley. These services were reportedly promoted via social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, with appointments arranged in advance.

Investigators noted that the beauty treatments were often conducted at rented residential properties, a tactic believed to be used to avoid detection by authorities. The Indonesian nationals are understood to have acquired their skills in aesthetic treatments both in Indonesia and Malaysia.

The Immigration Department’s statement did not specify any additional charges or the next steps in the legal process following the arrests. The operation forms part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on illegal employment and unregulated businesses within the country.
