Health officials reported seven additional deaths linked to a mosquito-borne viral disease, bringing this year’s total fatalities to a significant number. Alongside these fatalities, authorities confirmed 1,299 new hospitalizations, increasing the cumulative number of cases to 119,801. Of those hospitalized, 113,407 patients have since been discharged after recovering.

The disease, transmitted to humans through infected mosquitoes, lacks a specific antiviral treatment, complicating efforts to manage severe cases. Bangladesh typically experiences its peak season for the illness between June and September. The current outbreak's severity appears to surpass previous years, including 2022 when 281 deaths were recorded.

Health officials continue to monitor the situation closely, emphasizing preventive measures such as mosquito control and public awareness to reduce transmission. The ongoing health challenge underscores the need for continued vigilance and resource allocation to manage the widespread impact of the virus in affected regions.
