An 18-year-old from Sheffield was sentenced to nearly five years in prison for coercing a young girl into self-harming and sending sexually explicit images. Elijah Palmer pled guilty to multiple offenses including making and possessing indecent images, perverting the course of justice, causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent, and encouraging serious self-harm.
Palmer was identified as a member of the 764 group, an international online network known for sextortion and sadomasochistic activities targeting vulnerable children. According to court proceedings, Palmer initially contacted his victim through the gaming platform Roblox before moving their conversations to another messaging service. There, he subjected the girl to sustained intimidation, exploitation, and blackmail.
Investigators learned that Palmer employed various coercive tactics involving threats against the victim and her family to maintain control. The victim eventually reported the abuse to South Yorkshire Police, triggering an inquiry that uncovered Palmer’s association with the 764 group. He was arrested in June 2025 in connection with the case.
At Sheffield Crown Court, Palmer received a custodial sentence of four years and nine months, followed by an extended license period of four years. Detective Chief Inspector Scott Harrison highlighted the role of recent legislation in tackling such offenses, noting, “The introduction of the Online Safety Act in 2023 is allowing us to investigate and prosecute those who choose to cause harm using these online platforms.”
The case underscores growing concerns about the exploitation risks faced by minors on gaming and social media platforms amid evolving digital threats. Authorities continue to emphasize the importance of vigilance and reporting mechanisms to protect vulnerable users from similar abuse.
