Shane Richie’s son, Shane Jr, addressed his father’s recent drink-driving charge with humor during a performance at Shepherd’s Bush. The 37-year-old comedian warmed up the audience ahead of his mother’s show by making light of the situation.

As part of his routine, Shane Jr asked the audience if anyone was drinking, adding a cautionary reminder: “Remember don’t drink and drive.” He then shared that he would be traveling back to Staffordshire with his girlfriend and eight-month-old baby after the show, emphasizing, “I won’t be driving... I am drinking tonight.”

Shane Richie, known for his role as Alfie Moon on the television series EastEnders, was charged with drink-driving following an arrest on Wednesday. He is scheduled to appear at Colchester magistrates court on September 9.

In addition to the remarks about the charge, Shane Jr explained his decision to no longer use his father’s surname professionally. He said he goes by Shane Nolan, a change influenced by his mother’s rising profile following her win on Celebrity Big Brother. He joked, “I just go with the parent who is most famous, to get paid more,” and acknowledged his mother’s success by stating, “I have to admit my mum is smashing it.”

The light-hearted references during the show offered a personal perspective on the family dynamics in the wake of Shane Richie’s legal proceedings but did not provide further details on the circumstances surrounding the charge. Authorities have yet to comment beyond the scheduled court appearance.
