The Sharjah Health Authority (SHA) has entered into a partnership with Medcare Hospitals and Medical Centres to enhance health care access for Sharjah government employees and their families. The agreement, announced in late October 2026, aims to provide government personnel with expanded access to a broad range of advanced medical services through private health care providers.

Under the collaboration, senior government employees aged 65 and older, as well as People of Determination, will receive prioritized access to specialised benefits. The arrangement also includes discounted health care services for uninsured residents with disabilities, reflecting a focus on supporting vulnerable community members.

Dr. Abdul Aziz Saeed Al Mheiri, Chairman of SHA, highlighted that the partnership aligns with the authority’s strategic goals to improve the health benefits offered to Sharjah government employees. The initiative allows greater flexibility and access to quality care without the requirement of health insurance coverage.

Medcare’s CEO, Dr. Shanila Lajju, emphasised the mutual commitment to patient-centred care and the enhancement of health services available across the emirate. Medcare Managing Director and Group CEO of Aster DM Healthcare, Alisha Moopen, noted the long-standing presence of Sharjah within their network and expressed pride in deepening cooperation with SHA.

The agreement extends beyond traditional hospital services to include Medcare’s home health care offerings. These services encompass doctor-on-call consultations, home physiotherapy, short-term nursing care, wound care, injections, and specialised intravenous therapy treatments delivered at home. This approach is designed to support the comprehensive health needs of Sharjah government employees while promoting convenience and continuity of care.

Sharjah government employees and their families will be able to utilize these services at four Medcare facilities in the emirate: Medcare Hospital King Faisal Road, Medcare Hospital Shaikh Saqr Al Qasimi Street, Medcare Medical Centre Al Taawun, and Medcare Medical Centre Al Zahia.

The partnership represents a significant effort to broaden health care access for government employees in Sharjah and their dependents, with a particular focus on inclusive, quality care through collaboration between public and private health sectors.
