Anusha Biswas, a 22-year-old Bangladeshi expatriate studying psychology in Dubai, has shared the heart-wrenching details of a fatal car accident that claimed the lives of her mother and younger brother in Abu Dhabi last week. The family was involved in the crash on the evening of Monday, October 12, near Al Wathba Bridge on Al Ain Road, while en route to a community gathering.

The impact occurred when a speeding vehicle collided with their car from behind. Anusha’s father, Sree Swarup Kanti Biswas, 59, was driving at the time. He is an engineer who manages an electrical and plumbing business. Despite the severity of the accident, he escaped with no serious injuries and was hospitalized only as a precautionary measure to rule out head trauma. Medical examinations, including scans and X-rays, showed no signs of injury.

Tragically, Anusha’s mother, Ashima Chowdhury, 48, and her brother, Aritra Biswas, 15, did not survive the crash. Aritra was a Grade 8 student who required special care, which was provided by his mother. Anusha described her mother as a dedicated and selfless individual who tirelessly balanced working and caring for her family.

“Her one aim was to see me establish my future,” Anusha said, emphasizing her mother’s commitment to her children’s well-being. Reflecting on her mother’s spiritual nature, Anusha expressed a belief that her mother’s spirit intervened during the accident. “She took my brother and saved my dad because she wanted him to stay for me,” she said, suggesting that her mother sacrificed herself and her son to protect her husband.

The family held the cremation ceremony for Ashima and Aritra on Friday in Al Ain, marking a somber farewell surrounded by relatives and friends. Anusha and her father continue to cope with their loss as they remember Ashima’s hard work, faith, and selflessness.

The incident remains under investigation by local authorities, who are reviewing the circumstances of the crash and the role of the other vehicle involved. Meanwhile, the Bangladeshi community in Abu Dhabi has expressed condolences and support for the family during this difficult time.
