Kraft, the 85-year-old owner of Gillette Stadium near Boston, revealed that Sheeran contacted him shortly after Macklemore announced he was donating $1 million to humanitarian efforts in the region.
The dispute began when Kraft, a prominent Jewish businessman, requested that Sheeran remove Macklemore from the tour lineup. Macklemore had delivered pro-Palestinian speeches and included images depicting the destruction in Gaza during his performances, prompting a backlash from Jewish groups. Kraft said that after Macklemore publicized his donation and urged Kraft to contribute as well, Sheeran contacted Kraft to propose matching a $2 million donation. However, Kraft did not confirm whether Sheeran had actually made a financial contribution.
