Qatar Creates (QC) has announced a keynote conversation as part of its QC Talks series, featuring HE Sheikha al-Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums (QM), and Sheikha Hoor bint Sultan al-Qasimi, president and director of Sharjah Art Foundation and president of Sharjah Museums Authority. The discussion, titled “Leading in Challenging Times,” is scheduled for October 27 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the National Museum of Qatar (NMoq) auditorium.
Moderated by Adrian Ellis, director of AEA Consulting and chair of the Global Cultural Districts Network, the conversation will explore the evolving roles and responsibilities of cultural leaders amid contemporary challenges faced by museums and cultural institutions. Topics will include maintaining public trust, upholding institutional missions, and responding to increasing social and economic pressures.
The dialogue will also address how cultural leaders navigate the balance between institutional priorities and public expectations, support their staff, and sustain cultural programming amid growing scrutiny and competing demands on organizations. This keynote is one of six QC Talks scheduled from October 24 to 27 during Qatar Creates Week, an event that highlights the opening program for the Fall/Winter 2026-27 season.
Other sessions in the series include “What Makes an Icon?”, “The Collector as Visionary: Sheikh Hassan Al Thani and the Making of Qatar’s Modern Art Scene,” “Erdem: Dressing the Imagination,” “Behind the Exhibition,” and “Doha: A City in the Making.” The QC Talks series aims to create a platform for dialogue between the public and prominent figures in the cultural and creative sectors, encompassing artists, designers, architects, curators, and cultural leaders.
By fostering discussions on artistic practice, museums, and current cultural issues, QC Talks encourages engagement and exchange, offering audiences an opportunity to explore trends and challenges shaping the arts landscape. The conversation on October 27 is open to the public, with registration available through the Qatar Creates website.
