Madison Humphrey, a Dallas-based content creator known for her comedic reenactments of unconventional weddings, recently produced a parody video featuring a ceremony held inside a McDonald’s restaurant. The video was inspired by a real wedding that took place at a McDonald’s in Akron, Ohio.

Humphrey, 27, who has a background in broadcast journalism and initially reported on college football games, gained popularity in 2021 with satirical TikTok videos, including a series about an unhelpful apartment leasing manager. She later began creating skits that lampoon wedding traditions, often featuring her husband, Brayden, as the groom.

The McDonald’s wedding video followed a common pattern in Humphrey’s work: she is tagged by social media users who suggest recreating unusual or humorous wedding moments. This particular idea came after viewers pointed her to the Ohio wedding video, which was organized by Jamie and George Callicoat, a couple employed at the McDonald’s where their ceremony took place.

According to Jamie Callicoat, 42, and her husband George, 48, both of Copley, Ohio, the wedding idea originated during a routine walk-through with their managers. They welcomed the parody video, seeing it as lighthearted and expressing openness to humor directed at their unusual choice of venue.

Before filming, Humphrey secured approval from the couple, the McDonald’s location in Dallas, and the corporate public relations department, involved in vetting the project for legal and brand considerations. The production was completed within two days, reflecting the fast pace required to maintain relevance in the digital content sphere.

Humphrey takes on multiple roles during the creation process, including casting, costume design, and set decoration. She often involves friends, family, and venue staff to enhance authenticity; for example, actual flight attendants participated in her previous wedding video filmed on a plane, and lifeguards appeared in a water park-themed ceremony.

Despite her frequent appearances in costume—ranging from wedding dresses to wigs—Humphrey identifies as introverted. She maintains a collection of props including various dresses and gender reveal items, which she stores in a dedicated space at home.

A careful approach distinguishes Humphrey’s work from many online parodies: she seeks permission from those she features to avoid mocking her subjects. “My motto is always like, I want to laugh with people, not at people,” she said. This approach has sometimes delayed video releases due to waiting on approvals, though she considers it essential.

While some critics perceive her content as ridicule of “cringey” moments, Humphrey insists her intent is to highlight unique and memorable wedding experiences through humor. She balances her more elaborate parodies with other skits to manage the creative pressure and maintain artistic freshness.
