Shimanto Bank PLC has donated a microbus to Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) to support the institution’s administrative and educational operations. The handover took place recently at the university campus in Sylhet, with Md Nurul Azim, managing director and chief executive officer of Shimanto Bank, presenting the symbolic key to Prof Md Khairul Islam, vice-chancellor of SUST.

During the ceremony, Prof Khairul Islam highlighted the significance of the donation, stating that the microbus would enhance communication and transportation within the university, benefiting both administrative functions and educational activities. He also acknowledged the bank’s efforts across the country and expressed confidence in the university’s talented students, noting their readiness to contribute to innovative banking and technology initiatives.

Md Nurul Azim, in his remarks, outlined the bank’s commitment to expanding its social welfare programs and banking services, emphasizing the intention to strengthen collaboration between Shimanto Bank and SUST. He expressed optimism about playing a leading role in supporting the university’s development going forward.

The event was attended by several notable figures, including Colonel Mohammad Salahuddin, sector commander (Sylhet) of Border Guard Bangladesh, as well as deans of various faculties, the registrar, transport administrator, provosts, director of accounts, assistant proctors, and other university and bank officials.
