A 49-year-old man was fatally shot early Thursday morning in Astoria during an attempted robbery outside a local strip club, according to law enforcement officials.

The incident occurred around 3:50 a.m. near the Riviera Gentleman’s Club, located at Steinway Street and 35th Avenue. Authorities reported that the victim was approached from behind by a masked assailant who attempted to steal his jewelry. During the confrontation, the suspect fired a shot at the victim, striking him in the back.

Emergency responders pronounced the man dead at the scene. Police have not released additional information about a potential suspect or motive, and the investigation is ongoing. No further details about the victim’s identity have been disclosed.
