Qatar’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement Tuesday urging Iran to demonstrate good faith by committing to a new security framework aimed at preventing further escalation in the Middle East. Spokesman Ibrahim Al-Hashmi emphasized that Iran must halt its threats toward regional countries and facilitate the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway for global oil shipments.

The remarks came a day after a meeting in Tehran involving senior Iranian officials and representatives from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkiye, all members of the Makkah defense pact. The talks focused on regional security issues amid rising tensions.

In Riyadh, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman convened a Council of Ministers session to review the outcome of the discussions held in Tehran. The council reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s dedication to pursuing security and stability across the region.

The diplomatic engagement reflects ongoing efforts to de-escalate conflicts and address concerns about regional security, with Qatar calling on Iran to take concrete steps in line with the new framework.
