The Shura Council commended His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani for his participation in the recent G7 Summit, highlighting the significance of his role on the international stage. The Amir attended the summit upon invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron, taking part in a working session titled “Overcoming Crises and Enhancing Stability in the Middle East.”
During yesterday’s regular session, the Council noted that the Amir’s involvement reflects Qatar’s elevated global standing and growing recognition of its leadership in fostering dialogue, promoting security, and supporting regional stability. The Council underscored Qatar’s crucial contributions to advancing diplomatic solutions, protecting international navigation and trade routes, and enhancing international cooperation in facing common challenges.
In addition to discussing the Amir’s participation at the summit, the Shura Council approved a draft law on animal welfare in its amended form. Following a review of the report submitted by the Health, Public Services and Environment Affairs Committee and consideration of its provisions, the Council referred the draft legislation to the government for further action.
The Speaker of the Shura Council also informed members that a proposed amendment to the Civil and Commercial Procedures Law, originally enacted under Law No. 13 of 1990, had been referred to the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee for detailed study. This referral complies with Article 114 of the Council’s Internal Regulations, underscoring the ongoing legislative review process undertaken by the Council.
