The General Secretariat of the Shura Council unveiled a redesigned official website on Tuesday, marking a step forward in the council’s digital transformation and public engagement efforts. The launch event was attended by Speaker HE Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim and other senior officials.
The updated platform aims to facilitate easier access to information about the council’s activities and enhance communication channels between the Shura Council and the public. The new website introduces a range of electronic services designed to improve operational efficiency while encouraging greater civic participation.
Secretary-General HE Nayef bin Mohammed Al Mahmoud explained that the website’s launch aligns with the General Secretariat’s strategic plan for 2025 to 2030. The plan emphasizes expanding public involvement and fostering innovation through digital tools to better address community needs.
Hassan Youssef Abdullah, Director of the Information Systems Department at the General Secretariat, outlined two primary categories of services available on the site. The first category focuses on administrative requests, enabling users to apply to attend council sessions, arrange visits, request media coverage, or seek press interviews directly through the platform.
The second category centers on public engagement via the “Sawtak” (Your Voice) service, which facilitates direct interaction between citizens and the council. This service comprises three features. The “Issues for Discussion” section invites the public to engage in debates on topics proposed by the council, with submitted opinions reviewed by relevant departments and published following council approval. The “Opinion Poll” feature allows the council to gauge public views on specific subjects, sharing results once endorsed. Lastly, the “Suggested Topics” option enables individuals to propose issues related to the Shura Council’s mandate for consideration by decision-making authorities.
All these services are integrated with Qatar’s National Authentication System, requiring participants to register their details for secure access and identification.
The website relaunch is part of broader efforts by the General Secretariat to leverage digital platforms to improve responsiveness and transparency while strengthening connections with citizens and residents. By promoting interactive dialogue through these tools, the Shura Council seeks to more effectively engage with community concerns and aspirations.
