Members of Qatar’s Shura Council participated in the opening plenary of the Arab Parliament’s third session of its fourth legislative term, held at the Arab League General Secretariat headquarters in Cairo. The delegation included Amina bint Youssef al-Jaidah, Nasser bin Mohammed al-Nuaimi, Mubarak bin Mohammed al-Matar al-Kuwari, and Ali bin Ahmed al-Kaabi, all of whom hold seats in both the Shura Council and the Arab Parliament.

Presided over by Arab Parliament President Saad al-Otaibi, the session reviewed reports from various parliamentary committees and approved several draft laws, resolutions, and recommendations addressing critical issues affecting the Arab region. A central focus of the agenda was the Palestinian cause, with particular attention to ongoing Israeli military operations and the acceleration of settlement expansion in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Delegates also discussed security concerns stemming from Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and Iranian actions directed at multiple Arab countries. Strong opposition was expressed towards foreign interference in the internal affairs of Arab states. The session included updates on conflict and political situations in Syria, Sudan, Yemen, Libya, Somalia, and Lebanon. In a unanimous stance, members condemned a recent attack on a church in Jordan, reaffirming their rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism—especially those targeting places of worship.

Prior to the plenary, the Shura Council’s delegation actively engaged in meetings of the Arab Parliament’s standing committees to deliberate key issues on their agendas. Mubarak bin Mohammed al-Matar al-Kuwari chaired the Foreign, Political and National Security Affairs Committee, which examined ongoing political and security developments throughout the Arab world. The committee also reviewed a report from its subcommittee charged with formulating a parliamentary approach toward mitigating the impact of foreign interventions in domestic conflicts. Additionally, members considered the outcomes of a prior official visit to the Pan-African Parliament in July and discussed the committee’s proposed work plan for the legislative session.

Simultaneously, Amina bint Youssef al-Jaidah took part in a meeting of the Social, Educational, Cultural, Women and Youth Affairs Committee. Meanwhile, Nasser bin Mohammed al-Nuaimi and Ali bin Ahmed al-Kaabi attended sessions of the Economic and Financial Affairs Committee and the Legislative, Legal and Human Rights Affairs Committee, respectively.

The Shura delegation also participated in procedural sessions during which parliamentary leadership posts—including the president, vice presidents, and chairs and deputy chairs of standing committees—were elected. Mubarak bin Mohammed al-Matar al-Kuwari was unanimously chosen to chair the Foreign, Political and National Security Affairs Committee for the new session.
