The Majlis Ash’shura is scheduled to host Dr. Hilal bin Ali al Sabti, Oman’s Minister of Health, on Sunday and Monday for a detailed presentation of the Ministry of Health’s policy statement. This briefing will take place during the 16th and 17th regular sessions of the third annual sitting of the council’s tenth term, covering 2023 to 2027.
Dr. al Sabti’s address forms part of the approved ministerial briefings for the current legislative session. It will provide an overview of the health sector’s performance, assess current policies, and outline ongoing executive programs. The statement aims to offer council members insight into the ministry’s strategic direction and operational outcomes.
According to Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed al Nadabi, Secretary-General of Majlis Ash’shura, the policy statement is organized around six primary themes. These include institutional performance, development projects, service quality, crisis management, health transformation, and financial sustainability within the health sector.
The first theme specifically examines projects implemented under the Tenth Five-Year Development Plan (2021-2025). It incorporates a review of institutional performance assessment methods, employing a combination of quantitative, qualitative, and benchmarking tools. This segment also presents key achievement indicators related to the ministry’s strategic initiatives and programs. Additionally, the statement will analyze operational challenges encountered during implementation and extract lessons learned, highlighting their influence on strengthening Oman’s public health system.
Overall, the incoming policy presentation is expected to provide lawmakers with a comprehensive update on progress and challenges in the health sector, setting the stage for future planning and legislative oversight.
