The General Secretariat of the Shura Council unveiled a redesigned website on October 21, 2026, aiming to enhance digital engagement and facilitate public participation. The launch event was attended by HE the Speaker of the Shura Council, Hassan bin Abdullah al-Ghanim, highlighting the council’s commitment to improving communication with the community.
The new platform is part of the council’s 2025-2030 strategic plan focused on expanding public involvement and increasing operational efficiency through digital innovation. HE the Secretary-General of the Shura Council, Nayef bin Mohammed al-Mahmoud, emphasized the importance of strengthening ties with the community and addressing issues that impact the public’s needs.
According to Hassan Youssef Abdullah, Director of the Information Systems Department at the General Secretariat, the website features two primary categories of electronic services. The first category enables users to submit various requests to the council, such as attending sessions, visiting the council, arranging media coverage, and conducting press interviews.
The second category centers on public engagement through the “Sawtak” service, which offers three interactive features. The first, “Issues for Discussion,” allows the council to propose topics for public debate and invites residents to share views and suggestions. Contributions are reviewed by relevant council departments, with approved outcomes published on the website. The second feature, “Opinion Poll,” conducts polls on specific topics where the public can vote, and results are released after council approval. The third feature, “Suggested Topics,” encourages citizens and residents to propose subjects related to the council’s work and mandate. These proposals are assessed and forwarded to relevant decision-making authorities for consideration.
Participation in these online services requires registration through Qatar’s National Authentication System, ensuring secure access for citizens and residents. The website redesign reflects the General Secretariat’s efforts to bolster its digital services and foster greater interaction between the council and the community, supporting the council’s role in addressing public concerns and facilitating dialogue.
