Shwapno, one of Bangladesh’s leading retail chains, has provided a cow to the family of two young sisters who were recently found abandoned by the roadside in Cumilla, as part of its corporate social responsibility efforts to support vulnerable communities. The gift is intended to help the family generate income through livestock rearing and milk sales.

The two sisters, five-year-old Israt and her one-and-a-half-year-old sibling Roza Moni, were discovered on the afternoon of October 11 near Rose Garden Model School in Dakshin Bazar, Brahmanpara upazila. According to Israt’s account, their mother had taken them there under the pretense of purchasing snacks but then left them alone. The children were found crying and were promptly rescued by nearby residents.

Following their rescue, the sisters’ identities were confirmed through photographs and videos shared on social media. A paternal aunt has since taken responsibility for their care with assistance from local community members.

In response to the incident and recognizing the family’s challenging financial situation, Shwapno stepped forward to donate a cow. The company indicated that this contribution aims to create a sustainable income stream, supporting both the children’s upbringing and the overall financial stability of their household.

Shwapno emphasized that empowering disadvantaged groups and fostering self-reliance align closely with its broader corporate social responsibility commitments. The initiative reflects the retailer’s ongoing engagement with community welfare beyond its commercial operations.
