Myanmar authorities have intensified operations targeting illegal structures linked to telecom fraud and online gambling in the Shwe Kokko and KK Park areas. Joint efforts involving security forces and administrative agencies have focused on dismantling unlawful buildings used as hubs for these illicit activities.
On May 30, officials demolished three additional four-story buildings in the Shwe Kokko region. These structures were among a total of 77 illegal buildings identified for removal, with 57 slated for destruction through heavy machinery and 20 planned for demolition by controlled explosions. Prior to this recent action, authorities had already cleared 18 buildings, leaving 59 still to be addressed.
The government emphasizes that eliminating telecom fraud and online gambling operations is a matter of national security. To prevent such activities from continuing within Myanmar’s borders, officials have pledged sustained coordinated efforts involving both domestic agencies and neighboring countries. These measures aim to disrupt the infrastructure supporting these criminal networks and uphold the rule of law in the affected areas.
