Sidra Medicine, a member of Qatar Foundation, and Aman Hospital have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing healthcare collaboration for patients and families across Qatar. The agreement, signed recently, seeks to foster a broader partnership to address the evolving healthcare needs within the country.
The MoU outlines a framework for cooperation that includes coordinated care pathways, professional development, and the exchange of clinical and operational expertise. Both institutions intend to leverage their respective strengths to improve patient-centered care and create more seamless referral systems between their facilities.
Professor Ibrahim Janahi, chief medical officer at Sidra Medicine, emphasized the importance of collaboration across healthcare providers in Qatar. He noted that the partnership will help in building stronger care pathways, expanding access to specialized services, and providing opportunities for healthcare professionals to grow through knowledge sharing and professional development initiatives.
Caroline Kielty, chief nursing officer at Aman Hospital, highlighted the potential benefits of the partnership in enhancing continuity of care and delivering high-quality services. According to Kielty, the collaboration is expected to strengthen referral mechanisms, promote professional exchange, and contribute to a more connected and patient-focused healthcare system.
A central component of the MoU is the establishment of robust referral pathways, enabling timely patient transfers and continuity of care, while facilitating access to complementary specialized treatments available at both Sidra Medicine and Aman Hospital. The agreement further encompasses collaboration in laboratory and pathology services and other specialized clinical and operational fields.
Additionally, Aman Hospital has previously signed a separate agreement with Sidra Medicine regarding Cord Blood Banking. Through this arrangement, expectant parents choosing Aman Hospital for delivery can store their newborn’s umbilical cord blood at Sidra Medicine’s dedicated GMP facility, which operates Qatar’s only Cord Blood Bank. Sidra Medicine manages the collection, processing, and storage of these samples.
