The contest featured a notable clash between Sierra Canyon’s defensive front, known as the Terrific Threesome, and Orange Lutheran’s offensive line, dubbed the Fearsome Fivesome, with both units aiming to assert dominance from the outset.
Sierra Canyon established an early lead in the first quarter, with running back Jaxsen Stokes contributing two touchdown runs of 13 and 74 yards, finishing the game with 166 rushing yards. The Trailblazers built a 21-0 advantage before the half. Defensive plays, including a key goal-line stand on Orange Lutheran’s final possession of the first half, underlined Sierra Canyon’s physicality. When the Lancers attempted a quarterback sneak from the one-yard line, Sierra Canyon’s defense pushed back to prevent a score, preserving a 28-3 halftime lead.
The game was marred by a heavy penalty count on both sides. Sierra Canyon was flagged 14 times for a total of 165 yards, including nine 15-yard penalties primarily for late hits, roughing the passer, and pass interference. Orange Lutheran committed 10 penalties for 115 yards in the first half but showed more discipline after halftime with only one additional penalty. Linebacker Eli Zamorano acknowledged the need for greater discipline moving forward, citing the emphasis placed by defensive coordinator Chris Rizzo on physicality and dominance.
