Silsden secured their first-ever victory over Consett to advance to the next round of the FA Trophy. The match saw early pressure from Silsden, with Luke Brooksbank and Jakub Hebda testing Consett’s goalkeeper Harry Moss before the home side broke the deadlock in the 34th minute.
The opening goal came from a free kick awarded for handball near the edge of the penalty area. Tobias Jeffrey delivered the set piece into the box, where captain Jake Cassidy rose to head the ball home. Just four minutes later, Silsden extended their lead to 2-0. Cassidy again played a key role, heading down Jeffrey’s free kick, allowing Andy Briggs to finish and double the advantage.
Consett pulled a goal back late in the match through Lucas Lockhart, who marked his debut with the goal. However, the effort proved insufficient to alter the outcome, and Silsden progressed to the subsequent round of the competition.
