A 68-year-old Perth woman facing child exploitation material allegations related to author Craig Silvey has been charged with additional offences. Glenda Joy McGregor appeared via video link from Bandyup Prison before the Joondalup Magistrates Court on Friday. She is currently held in custody over charges including producing and possessing child exploitation material, as well as failing to comply with reporting obligations.
Ms. McGregor is accused of producing and distributing offensive material in 2022 and is alleged to have produced further material in 2026. Her legal representative, who was not present at the hearing, requested an adjournment until June 22, when Ms. McGregor is expected to face three additional charges.
The connection between Ms. McGregor and Silvey remains unclear. She was arrested following a forensic analysis of electronic devices recovered from the author earlier this year.
Craig Silvey, an award-winning Australian author known for bestselling novels such as *Jasper Jones*, *Runt*, and *Honeybee*, was first charged in January with possessing and distributing child exploitation material. Police executed a raid on his Fremantle residence, where he lived with his wife and children. Subsequent examination of devices seized during the raid led to additional charges against Silvey.
Silvey has pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing and distributing child exploitation material and remains out on strict bail conditions.
In response to the charges, Silvey’s publishers, Allen & Unwin and Fremantle Press, have ceased promoting his works. His books have also been removed from bookstore shelves and school reading lists across Australia.
Authorities continue to investigate the full extent of the case as new charges against Ms. McGregor proceed through the legal system.
