Singapore’s Supreme Court has approved the winding-up of Korea Artiz Studio, a wedding photography business, following a failure to attend a scheduled hearing. The court granted the application filed by CF Consultancy on October 9 after representatives from the studio did not appear in court, the judiciary confirmed on October 21.

CF Consultancy has proposed three individuals from Avery Corporate Advisory as liquidators, according to a government gazette notice published on September 28. Korea Artiz Studio also did not attend a separate hearing on September 30 concerning alleged offences under the Central Provident Fund (CPF) Act. These charges typically arise when an employer fails to make timely CPF contributions for its employees, suggesting potential non-compliance by the studio.

Korea Artiz Studio was established in Busan, South Korea, in 2008 and has positioned itself as a luxury bridal photography brand with studios operating internationally. However, the company stopped operations abruptly on August 14 after defaulting on staff salary payments. Its business premises were subsequently repossessed by Carlton Hotel.

Affected customers have formed a Telegram group chat that had 393 members as of October 21. Within this group, some customers reported pursuing claims through the Small Claims Tribunal in September but noted the studio’s absence at those hearings. Others indicated they recovered funds by requesting chargebacks from their credit card providers.

The winding-up process comes amid growing concerns over the company’s financial difficulties and its impact on employees and clients.
