Kuala Lumpur’s Astor Bar will host a special guest event on October 20 featuring acclaimed Singaporean bartenders Peter Chua and Teng Hong. The duo, known for their innovative approach to cocktail creation, will take over the bar from 8 p.m. to showcase a selection of their signature spirit-forward drinks.
Peter Chua is the founder and owner of Night Hawk, a well-regarded 22-seat bar located on Tanjong Pagar Road in Singapore. Night Hawk earned the 16th spot on Asia’s 50 Best Bars list in 2024, reflecting its prominence in the region’s cocktail scene. Teng Hong, a standout bartender from the same establishment, will accompany Chua for the event.
Their menu at Astor Bar will include notable offerings such as the Nighthawks cocktail, which features a blend of rum, vodka, amaro, chocolate, coffee, and hot coconut foam. Other creative concoctions include Stubbornness/Resilience, a complex mixture of tequila, mezcal, Fino Sherry, green spice mix, citrus, coconut cream, absinthe, spicy honey miso kale, finished with a coriander paprika salt rim. Another highlight is Death/Appreciation of Time, combining Macallan 12 Year Double Cask whisky, Hennessy VSOP Cognac, Michter’s Rye, banana, miso, and chocolate.
Cocktails served during the event will be priced at RM70 nett. The guest appearance is part of “Raising The Bar,” Astor Bar’s monthly series that invites renowned bartenders for special sessions.
