Sinnatra delivered a strong debut performance over fences at Ffos Las, prompting a significant shortening of his odds for the Arkle Challenge Trophy to 14-1. The six-year-old, trained by Dan Skelton, had been highly regarded prior to the race and demonstrated his potential by comfortably defeating Paul Nicholls’ Pourquoi Pas Papa despite conceding weight.

Skelton expressed high praise for Sinnatra’s display, describing it as an exceptional start to the horse’s chasing career. “I was absolutely blown away by his performance to be honest. It was a lovely start,” Skelton said following the race.

In the same meeting, Skelton’s other runners also performed notably. Captain Teague secured victory in the Listed Novices’ Chase, overtaking the favourite Tutti Quanti in the latter stages. Meanwhile, Il Est Francais, another well-regarded but inconsistent contender, finished fifth in his first outing under Skelton’s training.

These results reinforce Skelton’s growing reputation with novice chasers and suggest that Sinnatra could be a leading contender in the upcoming National Hunt season.
