Two teenage sisters from Chichester, West Sussex, have secured a £50,000 investment on the BBC programme Dragons’ Den for their women’s cricket equipment company. Honor Black, 19, and her 17-year-old sister Cat founded Maiden Cricket after identifying a gap in the market for cricket gear designed specifically for female players.

The sisters, who filmed their pitch 16 months ago when Cat was just 16, appeared on the show on Thursday and received offers from all five Dragons before accepting investment from each. Their company aims to address the lack of purpose-made sportswear for women, an issue they experienced firsthand as young cricketers. Honor recalled her early experiences playing mostly alongside boys and noted that their school did not offer girls’ cricket until the sisters advocated for its introduction.

Maiden Cricket has since developed a community of around 350 ambassadors and has secured sponsorship deals, including with the Seattle Orcas in the United States. The company is currently exploring opportunities to expand into markets such as New Zealand and South Africa. The sisters hope their brand will help make cricket more accessible and appealing for girls and women at all levels of the sport.
