Authorities in Pakistan have arrested the three sisters of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, a spokesperson for Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party said on Sunday. Aleema Khan, Dr. Uzma Khan, and Noreen Khan were detained by Punjab police in Lahore, the capital of Punjab province.

According to PTI representatives, the homes of Aleema Khan were raided during the operation. Alongside the sisters, several nephews and their children were also taken into custody, though the children were subsequently released. All three women have been sent to Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore.

The deputy commissioner of Lahore issued two separate orders authorizing the 30-day detention of the three sisters under the Maintenance of Public Order law applicable in Punjab, according to official documents obtained by news agencies. Law enforcement officials declined to comment on the arrests.

In response to the detentions, PTI has called for a protest scheduled for September 27. However, Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar condemned the demonstration, describing it as illegal and warning that authorities would not permit any attempts to block roads or disrupt public life.

The arrests come amid ongoing tensions surrounding Imran Khan, who remains a central figure in Pakistan’s political landscape.
