Eleven people, including six children, were injured in a shooting near Florida A & M University in Tallahassee during a homecoming party on the evening of October 25. The incident occurred just before 8 p.m. on a street close to Bragg Memorial Stadium, according to the Tallahassee Police Department.

Authorities reported that the gunfire erupted following an altercation involving two or three individuals. Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell described the event as an isolated incident and noted that the exact circumstances leading to the shooting remain unclear. He confirmed that no arrests had been made as police were actively searching for suspects.

Among those injured, the youngest victim was an 11-year-old child. One person sustained critical injuries while three others were listed in serious condition. There were no fatalities reported. Additionally, a 12th individual, a grandmother, received injuries while trying to flee the scene.

Eyewitness accounts described a chaotic atmosphere as people were leaving the football stadium, the site of the homecoming festivities. Student Jayden Dubois recounted hearing multiple gunshots followed by a panicked crowd dispersing. “I had gotten trampled a little but as I got up, I turned to my right and saw a person laid out on the ground,” Dubois said.

Despite the violence occurring near the university during a significant campus event, the institution released a statement affirming that the campus remained safe following the shooting. Law enforcement continues to investigate the incident while conducting a manhunt for those responsible.
