Six Flags Over Georgia has renamed its annual Halloween event following a fatal accident at the park. The event, previously known as “Dr. Fright’s Dead Man’s Party,” has been rebranded as “Dr. Fright’s Party” after the death of a park visitor.
The park confirmed that Hassan Kariem, a 42-year-old educator, died after falling from a roller coaster on Monday. Six Flags Over Georgia temporarily closed in the aftermath of the incident, remaining shut for four days before reopening on Friday.
The decision to alter the event’s name was made out of respect for Kariem’s family. Park officials did not provide additional details regarding the circumstances surrounding the accident, and no further information about the investigation or safety measures has been released.
Six Flags Over Georgia is one of the major amusement parks in the region and hosts seasonal events such as the Halloween-themed “Dr. Fright” to attract visitors during the fall. The change in the event’s name reflects sensitivity to the recent tragedy while allowing the park to continue its seasonal operations.
