A British businessman died after falling from a window at a ski resort hotel in Poland, according to an inquest held in East London. Steve McBride, 40, fell approximately 36 feet from a corridor window at Hotel Bania, located in the Bialka Tatrzanska resort, in October 2024. His body was discovered the following day.

Mr. McBride, a recruitment consultancy director from Chingford, northeast London, was attending a team-building trip at the time of the incident. Colleagues described the hotel’s layout as confusing and disorienting during the inquest.

The coroner, Graeme Irvine, ruled out suicide as the cause of death but criticized the hotel for failing to provide closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage that had been requested to assist the investigation. He described the lack of cooperation from Hotel Bania as "shameful," emphasizing that the request for footage was reasonable and ought to have been complied with.

Mr. McBride’s pregnant wife, Laura, spoke to him the evening before his death and gave birth to their third daughter shortly afterward. The coroner returned an open verdict, citing insufficient evidence to determine the precise circumstances leading to the fatal fall.
