Skoda is set to launch the Epiq, an affordable and practical electric vehicle, in January 2026. Priced from £23,450 after factoring in the £1,500 UK electric car grant, the Epiq offers a compelling entry point into the brand’s expanding electric lineup.

The Epiq, which seeks to uphold Skoda’s reputation for sensible design and utility, will be available with two battery options and front-wheel drive. The base model features a 37kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery paired with a 135 horsepower electric motor, delivering a range of approximately 190 miles on a single charge. Skoda forecasts a 0-62 mph acceleration time of 9.8 seconds and a top speed of 93 mph for this variant. A larger nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery variant will offer an extended range of around 272 miles and comes equipped with a more powerful 211 horsepower motor.

As part of the Volkswagen Group, Skoda’s Epiq shares many components with forthcoming electric models from related brands, including the Volkswagen ID Polo and Cupra Raval. Despite this shared technical foundation, Skoda has incorporated practical details aimed at enhancing everyday usability. Features such as multiple storage pockets, an umbrella housed in the driver’s door, and a front trunk (or “frunk”) specifically designed for the charging cable underline the brand’s focus on convenience.

Skoda CEO Klaus Zellmer emphasized that the Epiq is intended to be a mainstream electric vehicle rather than an experimental model, highlighting its balanced design, size, and affordability as key selling points.

The company also confirmed that its electric vehicle range will continue to expand with the upcoming launch of the Peaq—a seven-seat electric SUV—expected next month. Additionally, an electric version of the popular Octavia sedan is planned for release in 2030, further signaling Skoda’s commitment to electrification.

The introduction of the Epiq represents a strategic move for Skoda to offer customers an accessible, practical electric option within its established portfolio, positioned below the existing Kamiq petrol model. With its sensible pricing and range suitable for everyday driving, the Epiq aims to meet the needs of drivers making the transition to electric mobility.
