The UK broadcast regulator has launched an investigation into Sky News following allegations from Reform UK leader Nigel Farage that the broadcaster harassed his daughter. Farage claimed that on July 6, while he was abroad, his daughter was approached twice by Sky News representatives. He expressed strong disapproval of the treatment his family received, describing it as “appalling.”
Sky News has denied the accusation, stating that its reporters did not engage with Farage’s daughter and did not visit the family home on more than one occasion. The broadcaster emphasized that there had been no direct interaction with her.
An Ofcom spokesperson confirmed that the regulator is handling the complaint regarding fairness and privacy but declined to disclose details about the individuals involved, citing confidentiality protocols.
Separately, Nigel Farage is under investigation by the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards over an undeclared £5 million gift from Reform UK donor and cryptocurrency entrepreneur Christopher Harborne, which was received prior to his re-entry into Parliament. There is also a potential inquiry concerning assistance provided by George Cottrell, an ally of Farage.
Farage has criticized these probes, suggesting that opponents are employing allegations of misconduct as political strategies aimed at undermining him.
