Maidstone United extended their lead at the summit with a 2-1 victory over Maidenhead, securing their second consecutive win and moving four points clear at the top of the table. The match took place on Sunday, with Maidstone capitalizing early through decisive plays by Leone Gravata and Taylor Foran.
The hosts opened scoring in the fourth minute after a clearance failure by Maidenhead. Nana Boateng delivered a cross into the box, which Ken Charles glanced on, allowing Gravata to reach out and poke the ball into the net from close range. Maidenhead gradually gained momentum and responded in the 18th minute when Josh Umerah broke past defender George Fowler, but his rising shot struck the crossbar, denying them an immediate equalizer.
Maidstone maintained pressure as the first half progressed, with goalkeeper Jordi van Stappershoef making a crucial save to ward off a curling effort from Dermi Lusala shortly after the restart. Despite that, Maidstone doubled their advantage in the 49th minute off a corner from Riley Court. The ball traveled across the penalty area, and Taylor Foran managed to direct an off-balance finish into the net, extending the lead.
In the latter stages, Maidenhead introduced Josh Coley in place of David Mantle, and the substitution quickly paid dividends. Coley connected with a cross from Jayden Mitchell-Lawson and accurately placed his shot to reduce the deficit.
The result solidifies Maidstone United’s position at the top of the league as they seek to maintain their strong run of form. Meanwhile, Maidenhead will look to build on the late goal and regroup for their next fixture.
