Tyrell Sloan, the 24-year-old speedster from St George-Illawarra Dragons, has signed a two-year contract with Castleford Tigers in the English Super League. This move reunites him with former Dragons assistant coach Ryan Carr, who now leads Castleford and shares a strong professional relationship with Sloan.

Sloan, who has scored 52 tries across 88 appearances for the Dragons, struggled to secure a consistent starting position this NRL season, having played in only nine matches. The arrival of Cowboys’ fullback Scott Drinkwater and the contract extension of veteran Clint Gutherson have limited Sloan’s opportunities at his junior club, pressuring the wing to consider his future elsewhere.

While Sloan had previously indicated a preference to stay with St George-Illawarra, the competitive depth at fullback and outside backs factored significantly into his decision to move abroad. His transfer follows the departures of other seasoned Dragons players as the club reshapes its roster.

In a related development, St George-Illawarra has informed centre Moses Suli and backrower Luciano Leilua that they are free to negotiate with other clubs despite both holding contracts through 2027. This signals a broader strategy from the Dragons to adjust their squad composition ahead of future seasons.

The shifts at St George-Illawarra and Sloan's departure highlight the ongoing player movement dynamics in both the NRL and international competitions, as athletes seek opportunities for more consistent game time and career progression.
