Steve McKimm’s debut as manager of Slough Town ended in a 3-1 defeat against Dorking Wanderers on Saturday. The match, played at Slough’s home ground, saw the Rebels take an early lead before Dorking mounted a strong comeback in the second half.

Slough struck first in the 15th minute when Saikou Janneh delivered a precise through ball to Ruben Shakpoke, who calmly finished into the bottom corner to give the hosts a promising start. Despite this early goal, Dorking maintained significant possession throughout the first half, although Slough fashioned the clearer chances.

Janneh was involved in several key moments for the Rebels, including a headed opportunity that went wide and a near goal thwarted by Dorking goalkeeper Glenn Morris. Slough’s goalkeeper, Killian Barrett, also made a notable save just before halftime when he denied a fierce shot from Josh Barrett.

Dorking’s response came shortly after the break. James McShane provided a well-timed pass to George Nikaj, who finished emphatically to level the score. Nine minutes later, Josh Barrett assisted McShane for a second goal, with the midfielder slotting the ball into the bottom corner to give Dorking the lead.

The visitors extended their advantage midway through the second half when Jack Wood advanced forward and set up Josh Barrett, who maintained composure to secure a third goal past Killian Barrett. Slough pushed for a response, with Luke Holness firing a shot over the bar, but the Rebels were unable to find a late equalizer.

Dorking’s victory marked a strong turnaround following Slough’s early lead and ended McKimm’s first game in charge on a challenging note.
