Slough Town remain without a point in the current campaign after suffering a 2-0 defeat at home to Folkestone Invicta in a National League South fixture held on Saturday at Arbour Park.

The visitors took the lead in the 16th minute when Alejandro Machado converted a free-kick following a foul on Adam Lovatt near the edge of the penalty area. Machado’s precise strike passed through the defensive wall and beat Slough goalkeeper Michael Edegbe. Folkestone extended their advantage shortly after when Ben Mason’s low cross from the right deflected to Donell Thomas, who finished from close range to make it 2-0.

Throughout the first half, Slough struggled to mount a significant attacking response, and Folkestone maintained the upper hand after the interval. Edegbe was called into action with a strong near-post save to deny Joe Pigott, while Machado came close to further increasing Folkestone’s lead by hitting the inside of the post with a low shot and later volleying just over the bar from a corner.

Slough’s attacking efforts remained limited, and they were unable to seriously challenge Folkestone goalkeeper Ted Collins until the final moments of the match. In stoppage time, Kyle Brooks forced Collins into a diving save with a volley, marking Slough’s only noteworthy attempt on target in the second half. The visitors managed to maintain their defensive composure throughout the seven minutes of added time to hold on for the win.

The match ended on a further negative note for Slough as striker Ruben Shakpoke sustained an injury following a collision with Collins and required treatment before leaving the field. The result leaves Slough Town still searching for their first point of the season, while Folkestone invicta secured all three points to strengthen their start to the campaign.
