Actor and television presenter Shane Richie has been charged with drink-driving following an incident in Harlow, Essex, late last week. The 62-year-old, known for his role as Alfie Moon on the BBC soap opera EastEnders, was arrested shortly before 11:20 p.m. last Wednesday at a petrol station. Essex Police confirmed the charge and stated that Richie is scheduled to appear at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on September 9.

Reports indicate that the arrest occurred after a confrontation involving Richie and petrol station staff over vaping on the forecourt, which prompted the police to be called to the scene. At the time, Richie was driving a white Hyundai. His real name is Shane Roche.

In addition to his acting career on EastEnders, Richie has appeared on the reality program I’m a Celebrity... and has hosted television shows such as Lucky Numbers. The police have not disclosed further details about the incident, and Richie’s legal representatives have not commented publicly. The case will proceed through the magistrates’ court system later this month.
