Sohar International has entered into a service agreement with Evergreen Gulf Recycling Hub Services LLC to manage the collection, recycling, and secure disposal of electronic and battery waste produced across the bank’s operations. The deal, signed by Abdulwahid bin Mohamed al Murshidi, Chief Executive Officer of Sohar International, aims to strengthen the bank’s commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles.
The agreement establishes procedures for the proper handling of electronic and battery waste in compliance with regulatory frameworks and industry standards. It also includes provisions for the secure destruction of data-bearing electronic devices to safeguard confidential information during the disposal process.
This initiative aligns with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, which prioritizes sustainability, resource efficiency, and environmental protection. Sohar International views the partnership as a step toward embedding environmental responsibility within its operational framework.
Eng Aisha al Saifi, Chief Transformation Officer at Sohar International, emphasized the significance of the initiative, noting that sustainability is increasingly integral to the bank’s decision-making and resource management. She highlighted the growing reliance on technology in organizational operations and the necessity of ensuring electronic equipment is responsibly managed at the end of its lifecycle.
Through this collaboration, Sohar International seeks to demonstrate tangible action toward its ESG goals by adopting responsible electronic waste management practices that minimize environmental impact while maintaining data security.
